What the numbers depend on

Your real-world cost varies with things we cannot know about you, including:

Your utility's specific tariff, including time-of-use windows, tiers, fixed charges, and taxes
Whether you are on a special EV or off-peak rate plan
Outdoor temperature and season (cold weather reduces efficiency and increases consumption)
Your driving style, speed, terrain, and payload
Battery condition and age, and charger efficiency losses
The specific pricing, idle fees, and subscription terms of any public charging network
Local fuel prices if you are comparing against a petrol or diesel vehicle

Treat our output as a starting point for comparison, not as a number to budget against.

Where our data comes from

We compile figures from public sources, including data published by the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA), the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and fueleconomy.gov, and publicly published charging-network pricing pages.

Each page shows when its rates were last updated. We do not claim the data is real-time, and we do not claim our output is exact or "100% accurate".

Vehicles, brands and trademarks

Vehicle makes and models are named so you can tell which vehicle a calculation refers to. That is descriptive use of those names.

Where a page discusses a particular manufacturer's vehicles, it carries an express statement that this site is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by that manufacturer.

All vehicle makes, models, and brand names are trademarks or registered trademarks of their respective owners. We do not use manufacturer logos or official brand imagery.

Links to other sites

Where we link to third-party sites — including retailers, insurers, or charging-equipment sellers — we do not control them and are not responsible for their content, pricing, or practices.
